X1 VAULT

Pay once to store a file on X1 for good. Every validator keeps a copy.

X1 VAULT home page

X1 VAULT stores files directly in X1 accounts: you pay once, every validator keeps a copy, and nothing needs renewing. A file can be text, a message, any file or a small web page up to 100 MB. It is split into 9 KB pieces, sealed with its BLAKE3 hash and can never be changed or deleted afterwards.

Encryption happens in your browser before upload, for anything private. Saved files appear as NFTs and can be sold on the VAULT market, and a reward pool pays the top savers each epoch. The docs show how to read a file back from any X1 node without the site.

Updates from X1 VAULT

  1. Launch

X1 VAULT stores files on X1 for good

Pay once and every validator keeps a copy. Files are sealed with their hash and can't be changed or deleted afterwards.

X1 VAULT saves files directly into X1 accounts. You pay once, every validator keeps a copy, and the file can never be changed or deleted. It was built by Jozef of xen.pub, whose validators help run X1.

    How it works

    1. Pick what to keep: anything from a short note to a 100 MB file or a little website. Compression and password encryption are optional.
    2. Sign once. After that a throwaway session key uploads the 9 KB chunks on your behalf, so there is no wall of wallet pop-ups.
    3. The file is sealed with its BLAKE3 hash. Its address is derived from that hash, so any copy can be checked byte for byte.
    4. Every X1 validator holds the accounts. Open the file from My files, share its link, or read it from any node.

    What it costs

You pay a single time and never again. The bulk is rent: roughly 0.066 XNT for each 9 KB chunk and about 0.02 XNT for the file's own account, which together keep the data alive for good. Transaction fees and an on-chain platform fee are added, and a slice of that fee feeds a reward pool. You see the full price before signing.

    Why it's good for X1

Permanent storage is a real use for XNT: every saved file locks XNT as a deposit for as long as the chain exists. It gives builders a place to put things that must never change, such as certificates, receipts, contracts, art and project records, without a server or a subscription. Because files can also be traded as NFTs on the VAULT market, storage becomes something people can collect and sell.

    By the numbers

On 21 October the site showed 163 files saved, 22.8 MB stored and a reward pool of 306.4 XNT. Every epoch, 95% of the pool is distributed. The three biggest savers by bytes take 35%, 25% and 18%; two other savers picked by lottery take 12% and 10%.

    What to watch

    • Everything on a chain is public. Tick Encrypt for anything private. Your browser encrypts the file with Argon2id and XChaCha20-Poly1305 before anything leaves the device.
    • There is no password recovery. Lose the password and the file stays sealed forever.
    • Sealed means sealed. Double-check before saving; nothing can be removed later.

You don't need the site to get your file back

VAULT publishes its account format in its docs. With the file's address, anyone can pull the data from an X1 node and rebuild the file themselves, so nothing depends on x1vault.com staying online.
